As a freelance designer, I was given the opportunity to support&nbsp;Porque Creative in updating the nonprofit’s brand. Accompanied with the name of the organization, the logo has a leaf that points upward to represent the goal of growth within their community. The upward motion is continued further in the pattern. While in the middle of a couple of projects, I was given the opportunity to use my social media skills and explore ways that Porque Creative can invite their audiences to check out their work. As a ten-week project, I collaborated with the agency’s team to showcase their branding work online. Having a clean slate allowed us the freedom to bounce ideas off of one another with each biweekly meeting. While we critiqued on the branding presentation and newly-created mockups, each of us jumped in to help create visuals to capture an Instagram user’s attention. While this project allowed us to experiment and explore, we learned how to collaborate with one another and navigate last-minute changes that may come with social media posting. As a summer intern at the local multimedia agency, I earned experience creating print and digital deliverables for their clients. At the end of the internship, a co-intern and I were given a challenge to create two visual directions for the agency’s Instagram presence and present it to the CEO. After a few check-ins with each other, we would compile our findings and work into presentations that we would share with the production team to get their feedback and implement it into our final presentation. While it was a challenge to create a large project on our own, we were grateful to incorporate teamwork with ourselves as well as working with the agency’s employees to spark inspiration between us. project is a redesign of the boba franchise’s North American desktop website. This was created as a class project that tasked the students to redesign the website for an already existing business. Since there was only one location of Happy Lemon in Oregon during the time of this project, I wanted to revisit the boba shop since I would occasionally order from them during family trips where they were more common. While researching Happy Lemon, I found myself looking through multiple websites that were dedicated to a specific city that they were located in. Taking my confusion as a customer into consideration, I made it a goal to collect the information into one website targeting its North American customers. As a digital way to relive this experience, I visually centered images of their drinks on the menu page. The menu page features one front and center on the screen for new customers to look at. For this, I took the opportunity of a class project to dedicate a rebrand to the organization. This design was based off of one of my first conversations with the members of the organization. As Filipinos and Filipino-Americans, we were excited to bring our culture into the PSU space. An idea that stuck was the use of Baybayin. This is a writing system that was used before Spanish colonization of the Philippines. Combining artistic instruction with professional development, personal support with exploration, and business insight with education; Artemis encourages female arts professionals to recognize their potential, embrace their ambition, and finally have their works fully recognized. Born out of multiple phone calls of help, Artemis Arts was created by theater professional Sam Hull. Each phone call came from a former student of his as they spoke about the lack of work in their careers. As phone calls began to pile up, Hull began to help his former students one-by-one with undivided attention. From this, Hull realized that many female artists were unable to kick off their careers due to sexist biases in th art world. With this in mind, he created the non-profit organization to help support women around the world.The brand strategy for Artemis Arts is about unifying the various aspects of the non-profit organization. The goal was to find how Artemis Arts communicates protection and support with the Greek goddess of the same name. The decorative type borrows from the geometric shapes of the famous 1920s art movement. The reason for choosing for an Art Deco style is that it represents the time of women’s right to vote. Simply, this style is used to pay tribute to the historic, fighting women. Within the counter of the R’s, there is a symbol of the Greek goddess, Artemis. Traditionally, Artemis is known as the goddess of the moon It is said that Artemis protected hunters in the night by using the light of the moon. In this rebrand, the moon represents women supporting women who are in the dark within the art industry. Overall, this new image pays tribute to iconic women in the past as we help support women for the future of the arts. The colors of the rebrand combine the ideas of nature and femininity. Each color was chosen based on what is most commonly seen in nature. The reason why nature was chosen is because Artemis is known as the goddess of hunting and nature. The blue represents water and the moon. The yellow represents light that comes from the sun and moon. The green represents the Earth that houses to hunters Artemis protected. Feminity is communicated through the value of each color. The colors were lightened to bring light values.
